Fortnite Crew Changes December 5: What Subscribers Should Check

Epic is replacing monthly Crew outfits with higher V-Bucks allowances and XP boosts. Here’s what changes December 5 and what to check before renewing.

Fortnite Crew is changing on December 5, 2026, but existing subscribers do not need to sign up again. Epic’s November 4 announcement confirms higher monthly V-Bucks allowances, new experience-point bonuses and the end of monthly Crew Pack outfits after December’s final pack. The advertised US price stays $11.99 monthly. (fortnite.com)

For families, the useful question is not simply whether the allowance increases. It is whether the revised bundle still includes the things your player actually wants. Before the next renewal, check the subscription history, billing date and importance of those monthly cosmetics.

What you get now versus what starts December 5

As of November 8, the new loyalty tiers have not launched. Epic’s current Crew subscription page lists 800 monthly V-Bucks, special Crew Pack items and access to the Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass and Music Pass. V-Bucks are Fortnite’s in-game currency. (fortnite.com)

Pass access is not the same as instantly receiving every reward. Epic explains that players claim premium rewards as they progress, with an active subscription required for Crew-provided access. Check unfinished rewards before deciding whether another month makes sense. (fortnite.com)

The Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass and Rocket Pass Premium remain included after the update. Epic also lists a Music Mini-Pass for November 12, followed by a LEGO Mini-Pass and Fortnite Battle Pass on December 5. Those are upcoming dates, not benefits already available on November 8. (fortnite.com)

Keep that distinction in mind when discussing a renewal with a child: compare what is available during the paid period, rather than treating every announced reward as something they can use immediately.

How the four V-Bucks loyalty tiers work

Epic’s December 5 support guide sets out four monthly allowances based on subscription tenure. The in-game Crew tab will show your tier starting December 5. (epicgames.com)

TierSubscription tenureMonthly V-Bucks
Core1–2 months1,000
Bronze3–5 months1,200
Silver6–11 months1,400
Gold12+ months1,600

These are the total monthly grants, not bonuses added to the existing 800. The highest tier therefore means 1,600 monthly V-Bucks, not 2,400. (epicgames.com)

For a household budget, treat the tier as a benefit of a subscription you already want—not a reason to keep paying during a long break. Ask whether your player would still want Crew without the next tier waiting ahead.

It can help to agree on a simple spending plan: save the allowance for a particular purchase, or set a monthly limit on optional extras. A bigger currency balance does not need to become a bigger real-money budget.

Existing subscribers: check continuity, not lifetime spending

For active subscribers, the starting tier reflects consecutive subscribed months within the past 12 months. Separate subscription periods should not be added together as though they were one uninterrupted run. Epic’s example places someone continuously subscribed since June 15, 2026, in Silver on their December 15 billing date, when they reach seven months. (epicgames.com)

Before launch, gather renewal receipts and note any gaps. Then compare that history with the Crew tab on December 5 rather than guessing from how long ago the account first joined.

Returning subscribers have a specific window: December 6–31, 2026, ending at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. During that window, the starting tier reflects the most recent continuous subscription period within the previous 12 months. After that deadline, previous periods do not count and returning subscribers start at Core. (epicgames.com)

Do not assume the returning-member window begins December 5; Epic specifies December 6. If your account has an unusual billing history, ask support before making a purchase based on an expected tier.

Save receipts and a screenshot of the displayed tier if something looks wrong. That gives you a clear record to discuss with support without buying another subscription as a troubleshooting step.

What happens to outfits, Legacy Styles and XP?

December’s Crew Pack is the last monthly pack, and Epic says subscribers will receive it throughout December. Existing owners will receive all remaining Legacy Styles—alternate appearances—for their Crew Pack outfits, pickaxes and back blings in December, even without an active subscription. (fortnite.com)

That last point matters if you were planning to renew only to finish older styles. Check what you already own before paying for another month for that reason.

The OG Pass ends December 5 alongside the conclusion of Chapter 1: OG Season X. Epic places the next era of Fortnite OG in late 2027; the announcement does not give an exact return date. (fortnite.com)

The new experience-point, or XP, bonuses are 20% for Crew members and 10% for non-Crew party members playing with them. Crew and party boosts do not stack with one another, so multiple subscribers do not multiply the party bonus. (epicgames.com)

For a player who mainly wanted a fresh monthly outfit, this is a meaningful change in the product. For someone focused on progression, consider the XP benefit—but avoid turning it into pressure to play longer.

Review billing before your next renewal

Crew automatically renews until canceled. Epic’s cancellation guide says cancellation stops future renewals while benefits continue through the current billing period; it does not refund that period. Cancel through the platform where you purchased the subscription. (epicgames.com)

  1. Find the next charge. Check your subscription record now and put a reminder before renewal, leaving time to decide.
  2. Identify the billing platform. Use Epic’s subscription-management guide for the appropriate account or platform settings.
  3. Check for duplicate subscriptions. Especially after changing devices or payment methods, review more than one account’s purchase history.
  4. Keep confirmation. If you cancel, save the confirmation and check the displayed expiration date.

Epic says the renewal date depends on the platform where the subscription started. It also warns that multiple active Crew subscriptions produce multiple monthly charges without duplicate standard rewards, and recommends canceling duplicates. (epicgames.com)

Do this review before buying again somewhere else. A missing benefit or unfamiliar charge is a reason to investigate the existing subscription first.

Family checks: spending controls and actual value

Review Epic’s parental controls alongside the console or device’s purchase settings. Epic’s payment PIN covers real-money purchases through Epic’s payment system; it does not cover console-store payments or purchases using V-Bucks already in the account. (safety.epicgames.com)

Agree on what the monthly allowance is for, whether extra purchases need permission and when to reconsider the subscription. Revisit chat, content-rating and playtime settings while you are checking the account.

A useful renewal conversation starts with three questions: Which benefits did you use last month? Will you miss the monthly outfit? Would you still choose this subscription if there were no loyalty tier to preserve?

Renew for the revised bundle you want, not simply to protect a streak. Make a decision before your own next billing date, then check the December 5 Crew tab if you remain subscribed.
